The suite Hispàniques was a vast project that Joan Lamote de Grignon began in 1911 with Andalusia.
The idea was to create a symphonic trilogy using musical motifs from different regions of Spain. To get an idea of the projected scale of the work, it is only necessary to take a look at the score of Andalusia in the 1924 edition.
Hispàniques is specified as a symphonic trilogy, whose first part consists of four movements: I. A ndalusia (symphonic scene) II. D ramatic gloss on the traditional song El testament d’Amèlia III. C atalan scherzo IV. A ragon (in the style of a jota) He only completed the first two movements of the first part.
As regards the third, which takes the traditional song El bon caçador (The Good Hunter) as a theme, the unfinished general score has survived, whereas there are only some outline notes for Aragon.
