Publication of a book about Gabriel Erkoreka

The collection "Kaierak: Basque Composers of the 21st Century", edited by Musikene and Eresbil, aims to promote contemporary Basque music internationally. Each volume, published in trilingual format (Basque, Spanish and English), explores the personality, career and work of a composer through interviews, research articles, biographical chronology, catalogue of works and bibliographical references.
The first three volumes were dedicated to Ramón Lazkano, Teresa Catalán and Félix Ibarrondo. Now the fourth book in the collection is published, dedicated to the composer Gabriel Erkoreka. This volume includes an extensive interview conducted by musicologist Jon Bagües and an article written by composer and journalist Mikel Chamizo, which together offer an in-depth portrait of the composer's concerns and motivations, as well as a detailed context of the evolution of his music and the complete catalogue of his works.
The book presentation will take place on Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sociedad Filarmónica de Bilbao. The event will conclude with the listening of three works by the composer: Basalt, Ballade núm. 2 and Soinua. The interpretation will be by Iñaki Alberdi, accordion, and Miguel Ituarte, piano.
