The treaty Versuch einer Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen (Berlin, 1752) by Johann Joachim Quantz (Oberscheden, 1697 - Potsdam, 1773) is one of the sources which illustrate the theoretical and practical frame of musical interpretation of the first half of the xviiith century in Europe. This important treaty -which is an obliged lecture of many music universities and high schools- is an essential and permanent reference work for scientists. The translation of this treaty into Catalan means a great advance for performers and scientists and facilitates and enriches Catalan musical terminology by translating and putting into context a great number of terms and expressions belonging to the XVIIIth century, which already had a full validity in that time.
