Choirmaster at the Barcelona cathedral from 1696 to 1726. He was the author of an unpublished treatise on musical theory, titled Mapa Armónico, he provoked the most important musical controversy of the 18th century in Spain with his refutation of the criticisms of various other choirmasters of his harmonic treatment of voices in his Scala Aretina mass, composed in 1702
