Celebració was written in 2001 for a large chamber ensemble. It was commissioned by the Orquestra de Cambra Teatre Llibre. The score was dedicated to the members of this orchestra, which would premiere the work under the baton of Josep Pons on 13 December of the same year. The piece is, but intense and concentrated, with strong contrasts of theme and character and a brilliant instrumental composition. On the night of the premiere it formed part of a joint programme that included contributions by different Spanish composers, all of the works based on the well-known popular melody ôBall de l’àligaö (the dance of the eagle), which comes from the Patum festivities in Berga.
