Francesc Vilar was ordained sub deacon in 1737, being organist in the church of Sant Pere de les Puelles and presbyter in 1739. In July of 1742 he was named interim organist at Sant Just and Sant Pastor, the position was renewed three years later and he held the position until his death. Records show that he resided in the parish district as organist in 1751. Of his surviving works, several verses sets and a few sonatas have been preserved.
