Podcast: Juli Garreta and the sea, the blue
«La musique souvent me prend comme une mer!». It is plausible that Juli Garreta had never read Baudelaire, but this verse could have served as a guide when presenting his symphonic prelude to the call for a competition in 1917. He did it with the motto "Mediterranean", which is the name that the work finally received. We talk about it with the musicologist Joaquim Rabaseda.
Music from this podcast:
The Medes Islands, by Juli Garreta. Work included in the CD "Symphonic Impressions & Les illes Medes" published by the label Tritó. Performers: Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia, directed by Miquel Ortega.
