The Cadaqués Orchestra under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda performs three great works from the French nationalist genre. As yet, this is a unique recording, in which Noseda tackles pieces by Bizet, Fauré and Favel. The return to musical forms and styles from the past was one of the trends favoured by the nationalist movement. This eagerness with which some nineteenth century French composers attempted to describe and recreate the refined and select atmospheres of the Renaissance and Baroque periods led to the appearance of numerous stylized arrangements of old dances, which presented a rather dated image of the time.
