Intermezzo passional, written in 1934, is a setting of a poem by Joan Teixidor; this was Xavier Montsalvatge’s first song. Montsalvatge and the poet and publisher Teixidor were childhood friends in Olot. Throughtout his life Montsalvatge had an very close friendship with Teixidor; both men shared the same cultural concerns and were touched by the same imaginative stimulus.

This work is in two parts Si et ferissis... and perfum d’herba mullada and has remained unpublished up to now. Here we have the first edition, revised by the composer.
