This Valencian figure was one of the most famous opera composers towards the end of the 18th century. Known as Martini "lo spagnuolo", he completed his music studies in Italy and rivalled Mozart in Vienna. He was later send to St. Petersburg, where we was to helped establish the operatic tradition at the court of the Tsar.
