The 7th New Repertoires/Music XXI Season presented in Barcelona

This Friday, 7 April, a press conference was held to present the seventh Cicle Nous Repertoris/Música XXI, a season of music organized jointly by the GEMC (Music Publishers' Guild of Catalonia) and Joventuts Musicals de Barcelona. The programme includes seven concerts at the SGAE's Sala Mompou, every Tuesday at 20:00, from 18 April to 30 May. The repertoire for these concerts is made up solely of music by Catalan composers.

In the first concert, on 18 April, Magdalena Martínez (flute) and Alan Branch (piano) perform works by Fleta, Oltra, Rodríguez Picó and Brotons. The following week, on 25 April, Maite Mer (soprano) and Lluís Rodríguez (piano) offer a lieder recital with pieces by Lamote de Grignon, Massià, Brotons, Bonet , Torrents and Comelles.

On 2 May, a group of upper-level students from the Escola de Música de Barcelona perform works by Bertran, Sabater, Cervelló, Pueyo, Bonet and Benejam. The fourth concert, on 9 May, features the OBC Wind Soloist Quintet performing works by Homs, Martínez, Roger, Balsach and Brotons. On 16 May, Ashan Pillai (viola) and Albert Giménez (piano) offer a repertoire of music for the viola by Lamote de Grignon, Taverna, Montsalvatge, Cervelló, Fleta and Brotons.

The concert of 23 May highlights the talents of the upper-level students from the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu, who will be playing pieces by Cervelló, Guix, Valls, Nuix and Salvat. Finally, the season finishes on 30 May with the concert by the upper-level students of the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) featuring music by Benguerel, Montsalvatge, Colomé, Homs, Guinovart and Brotons.
