Newly-discovered overture by Ramon Carnicer

Ramon Carnicer composed two overtures for performances of Rossini's The Barber of Seville in Barcelona. Until now only the first of these pieces, published by Tritó, was known. Recently, however, the musicologist Josep Dolcet discovered the second overture, heretofore unpublished, which will be performed this Saturday 26 November in Tàrrega by the Orquestra Julià Carbonell de les Terres de Lleida, with Alfons Reverté conducting.

The concert forms part of the events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Carnicer's death. The music for Carnicer's second overture for Rossini's opera will soon be published by Tritó.
