Jordi Cervelló i Garriga was born in Barcelona in 1935. He started violin studies at the age of six and later studied virtuosity with Franco Tufari and Eugen Prokop. He obtained the City of Barcelona awards (1973) and the first prize of the Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia (1976), among others. His works have been performed by instrumental formations from all over the world: Israel Radio Orchestra, Barcelona City Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, Bogota Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Spain, Young Israel Strings, Catalan Chamber Orchestra, Classic Chamber Orchestra of New York, Pro Arte Orchestra of Lodz (Poland), etc. In addition to his composition work, he worked as a violin and chamber music teacher at the Badalona Professional Music Conservatory.

In the Tritó catalog we have two works by Jordi Cervelló: Gemini, for violin, cello and string orchestra, composed between November 1997 and February 1998 by order of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Andorra and premiered by the brothers Gerard and Lluís Claret as soloists; and Impromptu-Fantasia, for organ, composed in 1970 and premiered that same year by Josep M. Roma in the church of St. Nicholas of Stuttgart. This work is included in the recording Música d'orgue a Catalunya (vol. IV) published by the Tritó record label.
