Montsalvatge composed this song in 1933, under the title No t’abandonaré (I won’t leave you). It is a setting of a poem by his good friend Joan Teixidor. In .... The composer made a revised version and changed the title to Vinyes, following the original title of the poem. He dedicated this new version to his close friend Joaquim Nadal, former mayor of Girona (Spain). Girona is also Montsalvatge’s home town.
