The suite we are now publishing belongs to the ballet-pantomime Hercules et Omphale.
It was composed by Ferran Sor in 1826 and premiered in the same year in Moscow to celebrate the coronation of Tzar Nicholas I.
To create this suite we have selected some of the more descriptive fragments from the ballet, where the action onstage is performed as a pantomime, that is, without any spoken text.
