El amor brujo (1925)

After the premiere of the Amor Brujo in 1915, Manuel de Falla continued working on it as he usually did. Thus, between 1914 and 1915, he produced nine versions

This is a one act ballet version that was composed btween 1919 and 1925. It was premiered in that year at the Theatre du Trianon-Lyrique of Paris.

In the 1925 ballet the action is more complex than in the 1915 version. There were cut the spoken passages, and also were cut three pices: number 5 (Escena el amor vulgar), 13 (Conjuro para reconquistar el amor perdido) and 14 (Escena el amor popular). The sections 8 and 9 were combined and changed the order of the remaining pieces with the exception of the Introduction and Finale.

Some manuscripts have been consulted in preparing this edition. At the first The ful orchestral score of the ballet autographed by Manuel de Fallaand reconstructed by Antonio Gallego. A manuscript of the full orchestral score of the ballet that is held in the British Library. Also was used an arrangement of the Canción del amor dolido for voice and piano and for solo piano and an arrangement of the ballet for solo piano held in the British Libary.
