|Benet Casablancas, Catalan National Music Prize 2007
Benet Casablancas was born in Sabadell in 1956 and studied in Barcelona under Josep Soler and Antoni Ros-Marbà and later in Vienna under Friedrich Cerha and K.H. Füssl. Although he devotes a great deal of his time to working as a music educator, theorist and critic, it is accomplishments as a composer that have brought him his international reputation. His works have won awards in competitions around the world and are performed regularly by the most prestigious specialized orchestras and ensembles.
