FotoNEW: Ttakun by Ramón Lazkano
This is the score commissioned by the Cadaqués Orchestra, in junction with the Centre per a la Difusió de la Música Contemporània, from the Basque composer Ramón Lazkano for the semi-final and final rounds of the 8th Cadaqués Orchestra Conducting Competition, which was held in May. The title, Ttakum, is a Basque word for the steady rhythm developed by two players of the txalaparta (a traditional percussion instrument), which the opposing player tries to break with his herren, or `hobbling rhythm'.
