The Catalan cultural and economic drive initiated in 1888 led to the creation of the Societat Catalana de Concerts in 1892 and the announcement of awards to encourage Catalan composers to write symphonic pieces. The pieces include in this CD are examples of this music.
The Tonadillas were composed from Fernando Periquet words. Granados tried to recreate the atmosphere of the late XVIIIth and early XIXth century, inspired by the works of Goya. There were included 10 songs in the cycle.
The opera Goyescas by Enrique Granados has been a work unknown for many years. The label TRITÓ asked to the composer Albert Guinovart the reorchestration of the work. This Cd is the recording of that orchestration. It is the only available recording in the market.
