The Latin American Art Song
The musicologist and singer Patricia Caicedo has gathered, after years of study, 48 songs from various countries in Latin America: from Argentina to Brazil, through Uruguay and Peru, among others. These are concert songs, some of them inspired by popular songs. The composers range from the 19th century to today. This is an indispensable collection for everyone that wants to get closer to the vocal music of the Americas. It is important to highlight that this is the first critical anthology of the Latin American art song ever published and that it includes transcriptions of song texts into the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
"All in all, the volume is a fine collection of examples of many different Spanish songs types. It should be a part of the personal library of all voice teachers, specially those who teach Spanish speaking students"
