The album that the Cadaqués Orchestra, conducted by Sir Neville Marriner, recorded in January 1996 was the first CD released on the Tritó label and exemplifies the first stage of the activity that resulted from this alliance between conductor and orchestra. This occasion served to present the orchestra and its repertoire to the world in general. This recording of the Obertura de los esclavos felices by Juan Crisostomo de Arriaga is the first in the critical edition while the Symphony in D is the first of two recordings of the work with the same performers and on the same label. In view of the ten-year gap between the recordings, there are notable differences. This is another reason why this album is of particular interest.
