Torres, Jesús
Zaragoza 1965Jesús Torres was born in Zaragoza (Spain) on July 15th 1965. He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Madrid Violin, Piano, Harmony and Counterpoint. At the same time, he attended several seminars of Musical Analysis given by Luis de Pablo. He left the conservatory in 1986 and this year he begun to study Composition with Francisco Guerrero, with whom he works until 1988.
He has received the following prizes:
- First Prize SGAE (Spanish Authors Society) Madrid 1992
- Gaudeamus Prize, Amsterdam 1995
- First Prize Valentino Bucchi, Roma 1997
- Reina Sofía Prize, Madrid 1999
He has received commissions from official and private institutions such as: INAEM (Spanish Ministry of Culture), Gaudeamus Foundation (Amsterdam), Kaleidoscope Programme (European Union), Young National Orchestra of Spain, Comunidad de Madrid, Drumming Grupo de Percussâo, Colegio de España de Paris, Spectrum (London), Radio Televisión Española Symphony Orchestra, Cecilia Colien Honegger (Álbum de Colien), International Conducters competition in Cadaqués, Aula de Música de Alcalá de Henares (Quodlibet), Spanish National Orchestra.
